i’ve lost my sense of smell due to snorting salt water to clear my sinuses,will it come back?

my uncles doctor told him to snort a homemade remedy of a quart of water, 1 tsp. kosher salt, and 1 tsp. baking soda, its to clear your sinuses, and ive currently got a cold and my nose is stuffed up, so i made this hoping to clear my nose but i only had iodized salt and no baking soda. i’ve lost my sense of smell and he said it should return but i didnt use the proper ingredients…. does anyone know anything about this homemade remedy? and does anyone know if my sense of smell will come back??
